What effect does AdBlue have on diesel engines? | AdBlue® by Madin

AdBlue What is the effect on diesel engines? According to regulations, all new cars manufactured, assembled and imported in Vietnam from January 1, 2022 onwards must comply with Euro 5 emission standards.

  • Cars: Sedans, hatchbacks, SUVs, crossovers…
  • Commercial vehicles: trucks, passenger cars, specialized vehicles…
  • Motorcycles: Some large displacement motorcycles can also apply this standard.

Understand the important role of AdBlue emissions treatment solution

Reducing the emissions of vehicles emitted by vehicles is a major focus of countries around the world..

Under the increasing pressure of environmental pollution, governments around the world have issued strict regulations on car emissions. SCR technology was born, accompanied by the appearance of AdBlue solution, marking a big step in reducing air pollution. However, getting acquainted with this new technology, especially the periodic addition of AdBlue, may cause some difficulties for diesel car users..

What effect does AdBlue have on diesel engines?

Learn about adblue

AdBlue® is a diesel engine exhaust gas treatment solution consisting of 32.5% high purity urea* and 67.5% deionized water, in compliance with ISO22241. Urea is produced from ammonia and CO2 (carbon dioxide). AdBlue® is used by vehicles equipped with SCR technology (selective catalytic reduction), such as heavy trucks, buses, construction machinery and from September 2014.

AdBlue solution is biodegradable, soluble in water and colorless, AdBlue® crystallizes at -11°C and decomposes into ammonia from 80°C (from 30°C). AdBlue® is a registered trademark of the German Automobile Industry Association (VDA).

How does AdBlue work?

AdBlue acts as a catalyst, helping to turn harmful substances such as NOx (nitrogen oxide) in diesel engine exhaust into harmless substances (water and harmless nitrogen). When hot emissions meet AdBlue and pass through the SCR catalytic converter, they will have a chemical reaction that turns NOx into nitrogen and water. As a result, toxic emissions, especially NOx, are significantly reduced, helping to protect the environment and public health.

Frequently asked questions about AdBlue

Does your car use AdBlue?

The SCR system is normally found on diesel-powered vehicles designed to meet Euro 4, 5, and 6 regulations..

Therefore, any newly produced diesel-powered vehicles must use AdBlue. Can you refer to the vehicle manual.

In addition, the way to know if the car uses AdBlue, you should carefully check the fuel tank cover or in the engine compartment. If you find a cap that is blue and clearly marked, your car is equipped with an AdBlue exhaust gas treatment system..

What happens when the car runs out of adblue?

If your car runs out of AdBlue, the engine will work unstable, maybe even shut down. The cause may be because you forget to pin more or because the distance travel is too long. To fix it, you just need to add AdBlue to the separate container of this solution.  Regular inspection and maintenance of the SCR system will help you avoid unnecessary troubles..

How long does it take to add adblue?

How long you need to add AdBlue depends on many factors such as vehicle type, driving distance and travel distance. However, to ensure that the car is always operating stably, you should check and fill the AdBlue tank at least once before going for maintenance. On average, the distance between two fillings can be from 3,000km to 10,000km.

Instructions for pouring solution adblue for the car

To fill the AdBlue tank, look for the blue teardrop icon on the car. This symbol is usually located near the fuel tank cap or in the engine compartment. After finding the lid of the tank, you use a dedicated AdBlue pump nozzle to fill it up. Note: Do not mistake AdBlue in the fuel tank and always refer to the vehicle manual for more details.
